Description

TenneT was recently confronted with complaints regarding large-scale seagulls flying into a 110kV high-voltage line it recently managed. The line is located at industrial area Haskerveen north of the village of Oudehaske, west of Heerenveen. The high-voltage line is located between waste processing company Ecopark de Wierde and a sand mining lake along Germanydreef. Dead and injured gulls are regularly found under and near the high-voltage line and on the surrounding industrial estate. TenneT was commissioned to investigate the nature and extent of the problem of seagulls colliding with the high-voltage lines. Solutions are also proposed.
