Description
This chapter provides the reason for the research, namely the construction of the North-West 380 kV high-voltage connection Eemshaven Oudeschip – Vierverlaten in the province of Groningen. This connection cuts through areas that are important as breeding areas for meadow birds. The new connection could lead to disruption of breeding meadow birds. Practice and literature show that a disturbance distance of 100 m from an above-ground connection is often taken into account, but substantiation of this is lacking. The aim of this research is to arrive at a better substantiated disturbance distance. Advice on the analysis carried out was provided by Deltares and Alterra. This report only discusses the permanent disruptive effect of an above-ground connection and not the temporary effects of the construction of above-ground or underground connections.
